So i Reinstalled Windows XP on my computer and everything is working fine except for the sound. My sound device installed is the "C-Media AC97 Audio Device".

There is no error in the device manager with this device.Sounds are not muted. Tried updating but still doesnt work. Tried all of the troubleshoot problems. Downloaded the Realtek AC97 to see if it would work but it doesnt. So would anyone care to help me?

Im not sure what my motherboard model is or where to find that info. But i did find a mainboard booklet and it has the number L4S5A3 in front.

I installed the program and then it asked me to restart the computer which i did. But i checked my sound device and the new program "C media 3d..." does not show up, only my old one remains.

I still have no sounds. Was i meant to do something else during this step?

It also said that windows xp might not be compatible with the program. Please help guide me through or does anyone else have another suggestion?
