Ram Speed Question??

I have a question about the ram frequency on my wife's machine. It's a Dell Dimension 4600. I've installed 2 gigs of ddr400 pc3200 and according to cpuid it's running at 166.3 dram frequency. The processor is a P4 2.66 running at 133 bus speed. Shouldn't the frequency be 1:1? The multiplier in the cpu is x20. It doesn't seem to be running as good as it should with that amount of ram. Thanx for any input.

ratio 1:1 isn't for pentium 4. It's better for a memory to have more bandwidth than cpu external speed (fsb).
Are u running dual channel? If not u are in big trouble.

Hi Kuwese, I think so, but I'll have to check. It's been awhile since i installed the ram.
Edit / yes, it's in dual channel. Thanx.

Hi
dell dimension 4600 support ddr 400, may be one of the stick u installed isn't ddr 400 (it's ddr 333) or someone underclock memory frequency in bios (better check it). For now u are stuck with ratio 1:1 (which isn't very bad).

They're identical sticks. No one touched the machine but me. Thanx again.
