RAM Compatibilty Q

Specs: WinXP SP3, 2.4Ghz/512mb
Guys, your advice please.

I have two 512mb sticks of DDR SDRAM which both function perfectly well independently, but the system won't boot with both installed. Although one is 333Mhz and the other is 400, the crucial.com system scanner says that speeds don't need to be the same, could this be incorrect?
Both sticks are made by Micron, part numbers are MT16VDDT6464AG-335CA and MT16VDDT6464AG-40BGB.
Or am I missing something else?

Install the slower 333 (MT16VDDT6464AG-335CA) stick in the first slot. That will allow the required settings for the lower speed RAM to be used.

Cheers for the tip OtheHill. Perversely it was the reverse that did the trick, with the faster stick in DIMM1 and the slower in DIMM2 - no idea why, but it works fine this way round.

Well, I don't understand that either but I'm glad your problem is solved.
