RAM Compatibility

Specs: Windows XP
Hi All, I have below configuration Dell Desktop and I want to upgrade it to bit higher end. Could you-all please suggest me on this?

Processor Details: OptiPlex(TM) GX270SD with Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 Processor 2.80GHz
Original RAM: 1GB (2x512) 333MHz DDR SDRAM Memory

I want to upgrade at-least the RAM. So Maximum how much I can go for? Appreciate your earliest reply.

At the dell support page, you can figure out what and how much memory can be installed to your system, what processors are supported by your mainboard a.s.o.
Or read the manual for this informations.

It has got 4 slots and out of this two 512s are in place. Can I upgrade upto 4 GB? If yes, then I can go for One 2GB and 1 GB? Right??

It has 4 slots and two 512s are existing. Can I upgrade with Two more 1 GBs with 512s? Please help.

Look at the link at crucial in response 4. They tell you everything you need to know. Yes you can add two 1gb sticks to the existing two 512mb sticks for a total of 3gb. That will work fine provided you get compatible ram. Any more than that in a system running XP would be a waste in my opinion.
