Question about dongle for monitor.

April 4, 2011 at 14:22:58
Specs: Windows XP
I was looking to buy a cheap computer off of ebay and I found this one dell Optiplex Gx620 desktop. In a review I read though it says Dongle required for monitor connectivity (even single monitor). I'm not even actually sure what a dongle is. What does this mean? Can I use my sharp LL171MU LCD monitor that I used with my old computer or does this mean I need to use a dell monitor?

You don't need anything special to connect the monitor. It should have a graphics chip on the motherboard or an add on video card. Check the specs on it. You can use any monitor you want, it doesn't have to be a Dell. Be wary of Ebay computers though. Why don't you check your local Craig's List. There's a million old used P4 based computers for sale there. You shouldn't pay more than $100.00 or so for an old machine. I've seen them for $50.00. Make sure you can return it if it doesn't work.

Ok cool so I can use the monitor I have now and I don't need to buy anything extra. I guess I'll check craig's list first though before I buy this one thanks.
