It's just Intel's name branding of the CPUs in the Core family. It started with Core & Core 2, then moved on to Core i3, Core i5, Core i7. There have been 6 7 generations in the Core-i series, the latest is called Skylake Kaby Lake. There is no Core i4 or Core i6.
