Specs: Windows XP
my optical ps/2 mouse worked fine for almost 3 yrs when suddenly it stopped being detected on my pc.
Other ps/2 and usb mice are working fine on my pc.
Even my ps/2 mouse is working on other PCs.
It's just that my PS/2 mouse is not working on my pc.

Do what I do. Take the mouse by the end of the connector, twirl it around your head in a circle, faster & faster, then let it go into a concrete wall. It's fun.

Just another stupid saying...

Use one of the mice that works on yours and go into device manager and remove anything associated with the mouse. Then shut down the computer--you may need to use CTRL-ALT-DEL or the windows and arrow keys if the mouse is now disabled.

Then put your optical mouse in and start up the computer. Does it work now? If the mouse requried a driver disk you may need to use that to finalize the installation.

You're not really green until you're soylent green.
