PS/2 keyboard works in BIOS but not Windows?

Specs: Windows Vista
i have a ps2 keyboard that does not work in windows but does in bios. i have tried other keybards and uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers umerous. i get a message in the keyboard poperties device is working properly.

Is the keyboard connected directly to the purple PS/2 port without using any adapters?

yes straight into the purple ps2 port. the keyboard is recognized

yes the keybooard os recognize in windows but still does not work.

Try a different keyboard to determine if it is the keyboard or Windows that is the problem. If you have a USB keyboard you can hot plug it and it should be recognized. If you determine it is Windows for sure then we can try to figure out why.

I have tried 2 different keyboards. I usb and 1 ps/2 keyboard. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers on a couple occasion and no luck. I have also check and updated the bios and well.

Sometimes there is an option in the bios for plug and play operating system. Is that checked yes or no ?
