hi ps2 keyboard works in bios but is not recognised in windws xp pro set up or in xp home evan tried windows 98se tried a different hard drive with windows xp pro allready on it but keyboard still does not work but it works in the bios startup any help thank you
I've heard of that problem with XP often after a restore but not 98. If you're having a problem with both it sounds like a hardware failure.
So let's see exactly what you're doing with 98. First by 'load' I assume you mean 'install'. Did you boot with a 98 bootdisk but when you tried to run setup the keyboard wouldn't respond? Or, you booted from the 98 CD and the keyboard wouldn't respond when you typed 'setup'? Describe exactly what you did, exactly what happened up until the keyboard failure.
goodmorning Daveincaps thanks for answering, this problem as been driving me up the wall it started when i received a pop up from microsoft saying my hardware had changed so much since i registerd that i needed to re activate windows again i still don't know if this is legite or a virus any way when i tried to enter my reg no the keyboard would not work so i put a new hard drive in and different memory sticks reset bios on the jumper and tried to load win xp no keyboard win98 se no keyboard tried different keyboards Now i have a usb mouse which works fine i took it out and used a ps2 mouse and used a xp cd on start up and every thing worked fine full install but now when i put the usb mouse in the keyboard does not work can not trouble shoot as the keyboard is not listed anywhere
