Hello all

I have a Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 but i am not to good at choosing what is best for it. I am looking for a good processors to go with it. If possible i would like some options on the models i can get. I do not do any gaming on my computer but i do make many downloads, and multitasking. This is about it i guess.

Thank you in advance

Here's the product support page. If you're not a gamer (which would also involve which video card, RAM, etc., you have), then anything i5 or i7 in the "CPU Support List" would likely suffice...

I don't know what you're downloading, but you don't need a fast CPU for that. How about an example of your multitasking? And how much are you willing to spend? To get into an i5-2300 or 2310, it'll cost you about $180. An i7-2600 will set you back close to $300. You can get an i3 for about $125 or a Pentium for under $100. (newegg prices)

Hello all

As for my video card i got ATI Radeon HD 5450
As for RAM i got 8.0 GB
Multitasking: I download movies, games, and tv stuff. I am also a Travel Agent working from home so while i download i will at some times have about 6 to 8 pages open for research and booking. I also have in my computer Corsair (CWCH60) Hydro Series H60 High Performance CPU Cooler

Right now i have an i3-2120 and since i got this stuff all together i fell that my computer is slow . For sure i do not want to spend millions but i can go to about 200.00$ for now.

Thanks

I can do those task with my old P4 without any issues. Check CPU usage(task manager) when you are doing your multi-tasking.

I don't know why u have good after market cooler. Stick to CPU manufactured cooler next time.

"i have an i3-2120"

I realize you're not a gamer, but have a look at the following gaming CPU chart & notice where the i3-2120 is ranked. I highly doubt the CPU is your problem.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews...

"I download movies, games, and tv stuff"

Downloading doesn't use CPU power, but it does suck up the bandwidth of your internet connection.

"while i download i will at some times have about 6 to 8 pages open"

If you mean browser pages (IE, Firefox, Chrome, etc), it goes back to the bandwidth issue. What type of interent connection do you have & at what speed?

"I also have in my computer Corsair (CWCH60) Hydro Series H60 High Performance CPU Cooler"

I agree with kuwese. It was just an unnecessary added expense.

Why "I download movies, games, and tv stuff" if not a gamer?
Why "I also have in my computer Corsair (CWCH60) Hydro Series H60 High Performance CPU Cooler" with decent CPU, basic video card and simple needs?
Why a GA-Z68AP-D3 for such basic needs?
Why Windows 7 Ultimate for such basic needs?
Why "As for RAM i got 8.0 GB" for such basic needs?
You did not need a Z68 motherboard but there is nothing wrong with the choice and it offers you a variety of choices for later.
You should have saved on Ultimate and stayed with Home Premium.
You should have saved and stayed with the stock cooler.
You should have saved and stayed with 4GB of memory but there is nothing wrong otherwise with 8GB.
You should have spent a bit more and purchased a decent graphics card.
You might need a better hard drive, but you did not mention what you had, BUT your problem probably stems form your internet or you are lax with your system maintenance and your system needs a good cleaning out.
What antivirus program are you using? If you have Norton or McAfee, dump it and replace it with Avast Free version, it will not bog down your system the same way.

On a system with a Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, a GTS9600 Graphics, my daughter will simultaneously have open as many as 15 web pages, upload text and pictures, download image files, work on images on GIMP & SketchUP, six to eight notepads with text, at least 2 stories open in OpenOffice, and more, before she complains about slowing down and I have to tell her to begin closing things

Either you are not telling us the whole truth about your system and what you are doing on it, or you are doing something vastly wrong. As mentioned, the only weakness is your graphics, probably your internet, and possibly your antivirus program.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
