Specs: Windows 7
My pc is a hewlett packard with a Pegatron 52N68-LA motherboard and a single core sempron processor. I bought a Phenom II 940 quad-core and tried to install it and i got an error message that read "cpu not supported" when my new windows 7 64 os tried to start. I checked specs for my motherboard and it says it supports phenom II quad-core cpu. So my question is, is there something i need to do in bios to allow cpu to run? can someone help?

maybe you should flash your BIOS to the newest version. can you post your motherboard specs link?

"Pegatron 52N68-LA"

Pegatron = ASUS, so what you most likely have is an M2N68-LA. It's either a Narra or a Narra2:

And if that's what you have, it's a socket AM2 board & does NOT support the Phenom II. Flashing the BIOS is not gonna change that. Exchange the Phenom II for an AMD X2 5600+ Brisbane. Newegg has them for about $55.
