Specs: Windows 7, N450/1 gb ddr2
i tried to replace win 7 with win xp, now the system wont boot- says insert proprer boot media and press any key always on restart. i tried to reset bios by removing and shorting cmos battery but no use. in the bios setup, the system is NOT diplaying the processor, it only shows ram and hard drive capacity. i cannot detect any extenal device like usb dvd rom or boot from such a device.... please advice...

Why do you want to downgrade to XP? Did you download all the necessary drivers in advance? XP is going on 10 yrs old & it's unlikely it will have the drivers for your modern hardware. Also, your netbook probably has a SATA hard drive. SATA drives aren't recognized by XP without the drivers being loaded during Windows setup & to do that, you'll either need a floppy drive (which I"m sure you don't have), or you'll need to create a completely new XP disc with the SATA drivers slipstreamed into it. Are you prepeared to do all this?

hi and thanks for the reply. i wanted xp on my netbook for a peice of hardware i purchsed which is compatible only with xp. any way on my first attempt i successfully loaded the XP OS, but could not load the drivers, when i tried to revert back to win 7, it failed to load/boot from portable external devices. i then loaded the win 7 on its sata drive by connecting it to my desktop as slave. however now even though the bios recognises the ram and hard drive capacity it cannot identify the types. finally the N450 processor remains undeceted in BIOS..
