Samsung Sh-s222a 22x dvd±rw drive

Specs: Windows XP
I have a Samsung SH-S222A will burn to CD and DVD, problem I'm having is with Burning to Double Layer. Properities shows it's a Double Layer burner, but when I insert the DL media it indicates it a CD. So when trying to burn to it I get the message the the file is to large and ejects the media. The media is Sony DVD+R/DL and I have both Roxio and Nero 9 and get the same thing. I checked for firmware/ software updates and have the lastest. Any help you could supply would be much appreciated.

... what size is the file(s) you're trying to burn?

... if you're over the 4.7GB then use 8GB DVD's for double layer burn to function to limit.

... not really sure what you mean!

The file is 5.7, trying to burn it on a Double Layer Media Disk. The disk is a SONY DVD+R /DL. My system recogizes 4.7 DVD and CD's and have no problems burning them, but when I want to burn the larger file and insert the larger Double Layer disk the system see that disk as a CD and will not let me write, the message I get is file larger then disk and ejects the disk

"...and I have both Roxio and Nero 9..."

... there used to be a conflict with the above burning apps in the past, maybe there still is(?)

... try "ImgBurn" (freeware) click onto Mirror 6 - Provided by ImgBurn

Thanks for all your help, loaded "ImageBurn" after restarting my computer to an earlier date (before I installed the new drive) reinstalled the drive (still nothing) then loaded "ImageBurn" and now drive is working correctly with this software and Nero.
Thanks again for your help!!!
