Hi, i have upgraded my PC with more RAM, new motherboard, CPU, but still have my old hard drive, i have formatted and reinstalled. My PC starts up perfectly and go's into windows but if open alot of files at once, try a disk defragment, or play music, games, ect my computer go's blue screen and reboots. When it is back on it says that the system has recovered from a serious error. How do i know for definate that it is a hard drive problem before i go buy a new one?

A little lean on the specs. there Buff. Did you load the chipset drivers after the OS?

It's the trees moving that makes the wind blow

To prevent the Computer from restarting on Blue Screen error Right click on MY COMPUTER, click on properties, click on the Advanced tab. Naviogate to the Startup and recovery section and click on settings. Remove the tick mark for Automatically restart.

Next time you get a blue Screen the Computer will not restart and you can record the error message and details. Post the Details here for assisstance with deciphering the error and possible remedy.

In the meantime, if you suspect HDD problems, go to the link below and download SeatTools For Windows from Segate. FREE

You can get the DOS version which creates a Bootable Floppy (if you have one) or a bootable CD. There is also a version that runs from Windows. Read the descriptions to decide which you want.

Be careful with any version. It is possible to Corrupt your Windows install if you don't use caution. Read onscreen info before you act.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.

Can you please inform us of more specs of the PC/Laptop ?

When when signs up for CN there is a program offered to assist with this, go into "My Home" at top of page..
