Problem with ripped movies stopping

January 25, 2011 at 03:20:37
Specs: Windows Vista
I have been trying to transfer some of my old VHS movies onto hard disk, so I have ripped them to the hard disk on my laptop and then transferred them to an external hard drive so that I can watch them on my TV via a CiT mini media player. The movies work fine off my external hard drive on my PCs using windows media player, but when I play them through the mini media player onto my TV they stop after a couple of minutes or so and the media player starts looking for something else to play and so repeats again, whats going on?

Check to see if the format is supported. If it is then it is probably something wrong with the file. It could be a missing data in the file. Playing on the computer is different from playing on a media player for TV. If there is a tiny bit of data missed out while ripping the windows media player can skip that part and move on and it could see some milliseconds missing so it does not feel that something is wrong but when you play on the TV then the media player stops playing the file due to the missed bit.

The file plays OK on the TV for about 2 mins, then stops, I have tried with another film and exactly the same thing happens.
