Solved Problem with optical disk drive

Specs: Windows 7, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2720QM CPU @ 2.20GHz / 8 gigs DDR 3 dual channel RAM
My optical disk drive is having problems installing games. It runs most disks fine but when installing a game it reads error messages. I have tried updating drivers, getting help from dell tech support to modify my computer settings, even had my disk drive replaced, but the problem is still occurring. My computer is an Alienware M14x running Windows 7 64 bit. Do you guys have any suggestions to help fix this problem? Extra computer specs available upon request.

Then I'd look beyond the cd/dvd. Run memtest, consider cables or drive controller is bad or cpu is bad or some part of the motherboard is bad.

Hang up and live.

Optical drives don't need special drivers. And as jefro said, "look beyond the cd/dvd". Are these game discs actual store bought copies? If they're not, I suspect that's why they don't work properly.

Good point, forgot about testing the media.

Hang up and live.
