Solved problem with a HP all in one printer

January 17, 2012 at 11:34:23
Specs: Windows 7
The carraige on my HP Photosmart Premium C309a printer has jammed in the right hand position. When I switch it on it makes a terrible cracking sound when it attempts to move to the centre position. Any ideas please.
I have tried the problem solutions on HP site but it won't move across the travel by hand.

Sounds like the cartridge or ink tank has come loose, which could stop it from moving. The inkjets I have seen have a cog belt that moves the print head. Sounds like that belt is jumping over the teeth on the sprocket.

Look inside to see if anything is restricting the carriage from traveling.
