First, why are you updating the BIOS at all? A BIOS update should only be done if it addresses a specific problem you are having. It should not be done just because a newer version is available. If the update fails, and this can happen even if you do everything right, you have a very serious situation.

If you must update the BIOS it will have to come from the motherboard or computer manufacturer. It must be an exact, or at the very least a very close match, to your hardware or you will have an unbootable system.
