Specs: Windows 16
I just installed brand new genuine epson ink cartridges into my XP-420 printer. The ink levels are showing that the black ink is almost gone and the colored ink is half way gone. WHAT THE HELL? it wont even print the black ink

Sometimes they do come bad out of the box. Take them back and get replacements

Try shutting down the printer with the power button. Wait 20 seconds and restart. You can also verify the cartridge is fully seated. Contacts may not be making. I haven't used genuine Epson cartridges in a while. Do they have a protective film on the contacts that must be removed before insertion?

Is there a protective film on the contacts that must be removed before inserting and using the new ink cartridge? Is the cartridge completely seated?

On an old Epson printer I had there was occasionally some ink got on the contacts of the printer behind the cartridges and needed to be cleaned off with rubbing alcohol and Q-Tips before reading the ink properly. Worth a try anyway.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
