Presario laptop Touchpad stopped functioning

Specs: Windows Vista
touch pad in compaq presario not running, how to resolve this issue? if I put my fingers in the device cursor not moving. Using external mouse at the moment. Pls help. Thanks

Go to the manufacturer's website (Support>Downloads>Drivers typically) and download new/updated drivers for your device and install them. If that does not immediately, go to Device manager and uninstall the touchpad there and restart the machine. The machine will detect the hardware and install it with the new driver and you should be fine.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Most touchpads can be disabled, and this is often the cause of apparent failure. You might like to check the manual for your laptop to see how to enable/disable the touchpad. This link http://answers.yahoo.com/question/i... might be relevant, depending upron the exact model you have.
