Specs: Windows 17.01.2011
, PORTABLE HARD DRIVE, TARGA, MOBOX 500.

AFTER TRANSFERING HUNDREDS OF MY PHOTOGRAPH'S,AND RELEASING A GOOD AMOUNT OF SPACE ON MY PERSONAL PC, I THOUGHT HOW GOOD AN AQUISITION I HAD MADE,

APPROX ONE WEEK LATER A WINDOW APPEARED SAYING I'D BEEN INFECTED WITH HUNDREDS OF TROJAN HORSES STUPIDLY I PANICKED AND REMOVED THEM WITHOUT PROPERLY READING A DISCRIPTION OF THE AFORE MENTIONED.

I WHEN I TRY TO ACCES MY PORTABLE HARD DRIVE IN MY COMPURTER, A WINDOW SAYING THE DISC NEEDS FORMATING AND IF I GO AHEAD WITH THE FORMAT, EVERYTHING ON IT WILL BE ERASED.

I HAVE 10 YEARS OF MY LIFE ON THAT H/D PLEASE HELP

HOPEFULLY

MICK D

Install and run Recuva

Holler back.
As always, there is no 100% you'll get the data back. Just a chance.
I highly recommend you have important information stored in 2 or 3 places.

Mick, TYPING IN ALL CAPS IS CONSIDERED YELLING. No need. We hear you!

For important files you should have at least one backup copy. If the files are of particular importance you should have 2 or more, preferably kept in different locations. Leaving important files to a single point of failure is asking for trouble.

Hard drives fail, files can be lost to malware, accidental or malicious deletion, fire, flood, etc. You need to be prepared when (not if) something happens.
