Polaroid Ereader Causes USB errors

Hello - this is an odd one, and I've been searching but can't find an answer.

A few weeks ago I purchased a Polaroid Ereader. When I plugged it in, it gave me an Application Popup error. It worked though, letting me put books on. Today is gave me some problems - didn't want to connect. I would connect it and nothing would happen, eventually it did work though.

I thought it was just the Ereader, but it gave me the same error message when I plugged in my printer today, which it had never done before. I restored my computer to before I first tried the ereader, and plugged the printer back in - no error message. Can anyone tell me what could have caused the error, and how to use my ereader without having it mess up my computer again?

The computer is an IBM Thinkpad R51 laptop running Windows XP Pro SP 3.

The text of the error message is as follows:

Event ID: 26
Windows - No Disk : Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf7c 4 75b6bf7c 75b6bf7c

Search the web using: Event ID: 26 Windows - No Disk : Exception Processing Message c0000013
or similar.

E.g. You receive an error message after you log on to Windows: "Windows - No Disk : Exception Processing c0000013 Parameters"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223...
...........

"I've been searching but can't find an answer"

DO NOT use quote characters around all the search words - you'll get more "hits" if you don't.

DO NOT quote the parameters after that - they're probably unique to your computer .
.........

"A few weeks ago I purchased a Polaroid Ereader. When I plugged it in, it gave me an Application Popup error."

Did you follow the directions for installing the software for it ?
E.g.
In most cases, you install the software for a more sophisticated USB device BEFORE you first plug it into a USB port.

Usually you DO NOT install drivers for the device when Found New Hardware pops up !

If you DID install software for it incorrectly, go to Control Panel - Classic View - Add or Remove Programs and un-install the software for it, Restart Windows, and install it accordiong to the directions !

(UNPLUG the USB connection to it BEFORE you boot the computer again BEFORE you install the software if that's required.)
........

USB devices may NOT be detected correctly when they're not plugged into USB ports built into your laptop.

Troubleshooting USB device problems including for flash drives, external drives, external memory card readers.

Sorry to take so long responding - I've been ill for awhile. I tried searching, like you said, and came up with nothing. There is no software with the ereader - just a desktop app that you can install that's stored on the ereader itself. We tried plugging it into our other laptop - an Acer running Windows Vista - and it's working fine there. So we've basically decided to use that computer to put things onto the ereader. Still not quite sure why one computer likes it and the other doesn't, but we've decided to just deal with this work-around.
