PIXMA G4400 does not print any colours

February 17, 2020 at 11:59:05
Specs: Windows 10
My Canon Pixma G4400 used to print but now no colour comes through at all. When I do a deep clean I get an error 5200. There is plenty of ink in the tanks. I have not used colours for a couple of weeks. The tubes leading from the tank to the print head are totally clean (with the exception of black).

Generally when there is no color printing I recommend cleaning the print heads more than once. In your case you cannot complete the cleaning. This could be software related or mechanical.
You should always start with the easiest first. Unplug the printer power, remove the USB connector if direct wired. Press the power button 4 or 5 times to drain out any lingering power in any capacitors. Plug it back in and try printing again. Try cleaning the heads again. If this still does not work....
Try restarting the computer then see if it will clean the heads.
Try uninstalling the printer from the computer and reinstalling with the latest software from Canon's web site.
When you say "The tubes leading from the tank to the print head are totally clean (with the exception of black)." do you mean that you can see that there is ink in the tubes or that there is no ink in the tubes? If there is no ink in the tubes but ink in the tank then there is a clog there.
Others may pop by who know the particular printer and may have other suggestions. If not then there should be a Canon Printer User Group out there that also may be able to help if someone knows the same situation.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Hi, thank you. I will try that. To clarify, there are 4 thin tubes next to each other running to the printing head- one is full of black ink and the other 3 are totally see through.

It sounds like there is a clog somewhere if there is no ink in those tubes. Does this printer use cartridges or is a fill type?
See if there is a procedure for cleaning out those tubes or the tanks if it is a fill type. If the printed manual is not complete, download one from Canon. There is usually a troubleshooting section near the end of it.
