Specs: Ubuntu, dual core 3.2ghz/4gb
Hi i have this old video capture card and i know it works with Linux from all the research but i can't seem to figure out what plus in where. I have a video cable running into the video in port and i do get video in some linux apps but the sound is what i am not sure of. This is the card http://images03.olx.gr/ui/4/38/76/7... . I am not sure if i should go directly to the audio in or audio port to soundcard? Anything that i have tried produces no sound so i am baffled and would appreciate some help especially if you have used one of these old card :0)

Seems you need local audio support.

The connections on this card are composite video and S-Video, neither of which carry sound. You need to take a separate lead, or two if you want stereo, from the sound source to you sound card Line In socket.

For that you need some Video capture software. You might like to look at Picasa from Google.

It is basically digital photograph processing software but it does pretty good job of video capture as well. I assume you are getting your video from a video camera.

Not having that much luck with capturing video with linux unfortunately. Wanted to use zoneminder but can't seem to start it. It is listed in synaptic as already installed with this distro(Artistx) but can't seem to get it happening. VLC no one seems to know how to use anymore. Posted on several forums. Might try the linux section of this forum :0)

Hi geekme1. My card doesn't have those connectors...i think just rca. I don't think it has audio but maybe it does have s-video. I don't use it. See if you can get vlc happening with it. I haven't used vlc much in the windows environment but it is worth a go.
