Specs: -, -
Hi I have I noticed that I needed a graphics card because I started to play games on my pc then I noticed that the graphic card slots I have in my pc are kinda rare to find, because the graphic cards that fit into the slots I have ( agp x8 and 3 pci slots ) are not really Seen... I'm pretty confused on what 2 do because I've noticed that pci express's are the most update graphic cards... And pci and ajp graphic cards are rare 2 find and not as good..I was thinking about getting a new motherboard but I have good up 2date hardware etc sept for the graphic cards slots which is the only thing letting me down :( is there any good ajp pci graphic cards out there -?? Would be kind 2 hear your your opinions thanks ;)

It's agp, not ajp. Look here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...

I'd recommend the 4650 or 4670, but you really should upgrade soon depending on what sort of games you're trying to play.

Also be sure you have an adequate power supply, a 4650 wants 400w or more.

Standard PCI was replaced by AGP, AGP was replaced by PCI-express. Stay away from standard PCI video cards, they are useless when it comes to gaming. There are still AGP video cards available but the majority of them aren't very good for gaming & the good ones that are available are usually very expensive.

The Radeon HD cards were designed for PCI-express. Some of them were retrofitted for AGP, but they don't work all that well due to driver issues. If you check the feedback on the link posted above, the biggest complaint is problems with drivers. I recommend you stick to GPUs that were designed for AGP.

Unfortunately you just missed out on an excellent deal for a Radeon X1950 Pro that was on sale at TigerDirect for just $22. It's a true AGP gaming card that's just as fast or faster than the HD 4650. It orginally sold for $250 back in the AGP days. Here's the link currently showing it as unavailable:

Visiontek Radeon X1950 Pro / 256MB GDDR3 / AGP 8x / DL Dual DVI / HDTV / Video Card (Refurbished) - $22

What will work with your motherboard depends on what motherboard you have and possibly your OS. So, uh, what are we dealing with here?
