PC white screens and blue screens

Specs: Windows XP
My Dell desktop is about 4 years old, and in the past year or so, it has diplayed blue screens a number of times, and now more recently and frequently, it displays white screens.

Can this be prevented, or do I need to replace my PC before it crashes completely?

CRT or LCD monitor? White screens can be caused by bad or loose video connections and cables.

The only useful way to find out what's wrong with a crashing PC (Blue Screen) is to analyze the crash dump file. When your PC has crashed with a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), minidump files are created are saved in the C:\WINDOWS\Minidump directory. These files are named "MiniDateof dump.dmp", example: Mini072508-01.dmp would be a dump file created on July 25th, 2008. These dump files can be analyzed by a qualified technician using WinDBG (Windows Debugger) to find out what is occurring.

Just another stupid saying...
