pc powers off randomly

Specs: Windows XP
My pc powers off randomly. I switch it off at the mains , leave 5 secs, then switch back on and it reboots fine.

It is happening more often now, at least once a week.

Does your computer have sufficient cooling? It probably isn't that, but there is an off chance. Usually, you'll get beeps of some sort. Is your power supply unit adequete? Is it perhaps too old? Other than that, based on what you told me, I'm afraid I cannot suggest anything else, as there are millions of causes for your computer mishap.

...It is simply phsychological analysis consisting mostly of theories I myself have to decypher and deter their respective plausibility...

Cpu overheating, better check temp in bios or psu failure.
