You need to post in detail what you "accidentally" did. You can't install a partition but rather create one. Were you trying to make an additional partition, or what?

i had trouble with my primary hard drive and started to do a system recovery with out disconnecting my external drive it created the partion ive been able to gain access to 931GB out of 1000 GB on my drive i cant seem to gain access to my whole drive as one unit there are files on there (500GB) i have recovery soft were that verifies that i dont have anything with enought space to transfer all of these to is it possible to restore folder and file identification with out transfer them to another drive ? also to access my complete drive as one unit(1000GB)

If you are seeing 931GB you are accessing the entire capacity. The shortage has been discussed many times in many forums. The issue is the difference between a 1024kb and the numbers used by drive manufacturers, which is 1000. Multiple the stated capacity by .931 and you will be very close to actual capacity.

So right now you can see 931GB of files/folders but can't access them? If that is the case then you may need to take ownership of the files/folders in WinXP. To learn how to do that look at the link below.

Did you run test disk? Test disk may be able to rebuild the partition so you don't need to copy the files.
