Specs: Windows 7
After a power outage, my Panasonic Viera TV 42" flat screen, model number TH-P42X50Z, went off in standby mode, and with the power cable plugged into a power surge protector at the time of of the outage, the tv will not switch back on. I have tried differnt power sockets that work, but still won't switch on. What is the problem and can it be fixed by an qualified service technician?

Not really an appropriate question on a Windows Hardware forum, but it's probably just an internal fuse that needs replacing at a guess.

Anything could have happened. The mains fuse burned out as phil22 said above, the power supply, the backlighting lamps, etc.

Remove power for 10 minutes, turn the power off with the power switch, not with remote and hope for normal operation. Removing power may reset some internal protection circuitry.

If no go, call for authorized Panasonic service.
