Hi it is a while since i installed a printer on windows(xp) and i am not sure why the damn thing won't install properly. It seems to but windows is not recognising it automatically like i am used to.. It is a laser printer with both usb and parallel connectors. I tried both. I also tried with my linux machine but damn if that distro i have ...well it s complicated compared to straight ubuntu. The person that have me this old printer said it worked and i have never had so much trouble with a printer. The light is on it. Doesn't matter what connector i use the OS is not saying there is a new whatever connected and wheres the damn driver....sorry i am being funny now. I can't remember the exact words indows says but i know it when i see it. I downloaded the driver from Panasonic for winxp. I also noticed that when i tried to run the driver exe file it didn't. I double clicked the setup.exe file and it didn't run. I re-booted and still the same...hmmmmm hope my friend didn't damage this during transporting it to me.

When a printer connects via USB, the usual method for driver installation is set up the printer, but DO NOT turn it or connect it to any USB port just yet

Start installing the driver, then turn it on and connect to USB port when it tells you to.
