I have a Packard bell laptop and when I turn it on the screen doesn't come on. I have tried the take out battery hold down power button connect power and turn on. I have taken out the ram and tried a different slot.

I can hear the fan start and runs for about 3 seconds or so and turns off.

lights are on.

Any ideas?

Hi Charlie3999,

Did you try connecting an external display(TV or monitor) to isolate the issue?

Unplug all external peripherals and then try turning on the system.

Thanks & Regards

Yes I have tried that and it doesn't work. It worked fine last night.

Did this just suddenly happen? Check Power Supply Unit connections, particularly the long one on the motherboard. PSU might have failed.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hi Charlie3999,

It seems to be an issue with the system board. I would suggest you to contact the manufacturer to get the system serviced.

Re #5
The poster is saying that the fan only runs for about 3 seconds. I regard it as very unlikely that this symptom has anything to do with "the screen or inverter or lcd cable". The PSU or motherboard are far more likely.

I took this to mean that you tried an external monitor with the same result.
[I'm a bit confused because two things were suggested in post #2].
