p4v8x-x motherboard cant detect sata dvd driv

Specs: Windows XP, 2.13/512mb
i want to use my sata dvd drive in my asus p4v8x-x motherboard but it cannot detect it.
both status of "serial ata" option (enable and disable) was tested but in the boot menu (F8 when booting) the DVD drive was not shown.
i did update the bios from asus.com to version 1006 but this way did not reply, too !
in the "BOOT" area of the bios and boot priority menu, the DVD drive not shown and not detect but DVD drive detect in POST section of boot and in the black screen i can see the DVD name and model.
my DVD drive model is: Pioneer DVR-S18L

my os is windows XP service pack 2 but my problem is in the bios area anyway Thanks for your helps...
