over heating video card in a XPS 200

March 9, 2010 at 18:27:12
Specs: Windows XP
I have a XPS 200 that gets really hot quickly, I
have already lost the video card it came with to
over heating so I went out and got a 8500Gt
with a built in fan for it.My Question is, is their
anything else to do with it to stop it from
getting so hot? It's in a mini tower so I can't
really add any more fans and the mother bored
is specially designed for the tower so no new tower.

Read the notices about air vents on this page...

http://support.dell.com/support/edo...

Insure there is no dust build up on the processor heat sink or the power supply fan inlet and outlet.

Is your 8500GT running OK?

the whole computer is dusty inside, but I will try to spray it out.
The 8500GT is running fine ad far as I can tell. The only problem
is that it is to tall for the case so I can't put the top back on.
