Hi, yesterday i had an incident where my email from my blackberry had forwarded 3 emails, one to an email address that wasn't in my address / contacts list? i was actually driving at the time therefore i didn't physically send anything. How can this happen? and would the problem be with the blacberry server / my outgoing server or incoming server??

Huh? Whaaa? no way...yer teasing. Emails were forwarded ON THE BB, or FROM YOUR EMAIL account(s) elsewhere?

What Model BB do you have? Sounds like some Auto forwarding may be occuring. Are you set up with auto forwarding in one or more email accounts?

Just another stupid saying...

I don't think so Dave - I've checked the BB forums, they say no BB viruses (yet! haha). I also know a JAVA developer at RIM, he claims there are no BB malware that he knows of. Of course, I, and he could be wrong, the hackers make their living doing stealthy/crafty things exploiting ppl, software & machines.

I remember the Sinowal Windows Trojan was out in the wild for three years before they detected it. Now that's a PC, a very different OS than a BB....so is it possible? I guess. Probable - ?

hey, thank you for responding so quickly - i'm definately not teasing, i;m serious. The emails were forwarded to email addresses i have never emailed before and didn't have in my address book but were valid email addresses, ie i am part of a franchise network and the emails were sent to other franchisees - we have the same email address ie. @.............co.uk. Could there be a problem with the host / server who provide the @........co.uk email addresses??
I don't think it is a virus with my BB as i have two email accounts set up on the BB and there is nothing wrong with the other one... model Curve ...
How do i check auto forwarding - and who would this forward too?? would it be people in the orginal email ??
Thanks again

RE:

Definitely! Servers, Email servers, DNS servers etc are susceptable to hacking, tampering, viruses, SPAM, DNS attacks, DNS cache poisoning. SPAM is still a big problem (mainly because of foreign governments failure to crack down on SPAMMERS).

Email Forwarding is when your old email is configured to forward messages to a NEW email address:
