Specs: Windows 7 64bit
Hello
I have windows 7 64 bit installed... And 4gb ram inside(2x2gb ddr2) and i was wondering can i replace it with 2x4gb ddr2?
Also... even with 64 bit windows shows me from 4 rams that 3.50 is usable, I tried unchecking maximal memory and bring it to 4096 and restarting. Still no change. I did some research today and i saw on dell.com that Optiplex GX620 has 4 gb limit i later instaled 2 ram more from my brother it did show 6gb but still 3.50 usable

Specs:
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
Processor: Intel Pentium D 820(Dual core) 2.80GHz
Ram: 2x2gb ddr2(dual channel)
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT430(1gb)
Motherboard: Dell Inc. 0HH807 (Microprocessor)
Optiplex GX620.

Your system is old. The limiting factor in terms of RAM support is the 945G chipset the motherboard is based on. 4GB is the max.

Do you have the integrated graphics disabled in the BIOS? Are you 100% sure you have a 64-bit OS? Where did you see 6GB?

Yeah... It's very old, but that is most that i can afford to myself.
I went to My Computer>System Properties
There it said Installed memory(RAM): 6,00 GB (3,50 GB usable)
Yes I'm 200% Sure it's Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit(Service Pack 1) even have original cd
I went in the bios and disabled integrated graphics from activate if primary to disable, I hope i did the right thing?

"I went in the bios and disabled integrated graphics from activate if primary to disable"

You set "activate if primary" to disabled? I suggest you change it back.

I looked into it a little more & there are plenty of posts from those you have installed 8GB RAM. It's recognized in the BIOS but only <4GB are usable due to the chipset limitations. Check this thread on another site: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thr...

Yeah... I put it on this forum without researching a little more, now i see that as you said i can put 5-6-8gb but he will always use 3.xxGB in reserve due the chipset limit... Thanks sir for your answering and time i've taken from you with this post.
Have a nice day! :)
