I have a Dell system which is Optiplex gx270.i upgrade the OS to windows7 but the screen resolution is not okay.I cannot adjust it and the sound is not okay.how do i fix this problems without changing the inbuilt vedio card and without buying another hardware.thank you.
Pls help me out ASAP
Before upgrading to Windows 7 you should have checked the Dell website to see if they have Windows 7 drivers for the Optiplex GX270. I can tell you that they do not have any Windows 7 drivers for that model.
You will have to fit a new graphics card and sound card.To fix the problem without buying new hardware, you must re-install Windows XP and then re-install the Dell drivers for Windows XP.
If you really want Windows 7 you should consider buying a new PC with Windows 7 already installed.
Do you have at least 2GB RAM installed? Win7 will run poorly with less. The Optiplex GX270 is old. I just checked the Dell website & they list no drivers for Win7. You're going to have to identify the make/model of your graphics & audo chip, then see if you can search/find compatible drivers. There's a chance that there won't be any for Win7. If that's the case, Vista drivers should work - that is, if there are any. If you can't find drivers, you have a few choices:
- install a video card & sound card that are supported by Win7
- go back to WinXP
- install a Linux distro such as Mint or Ubuntu
- buy a more modern system
Thanks riider i do appreciate ur suggestions. i think its going to work.pls can you send me Vista driver you are refering to. i want to go for that option now before trying others.can you send me mint or ubuntu you are refering to. thanks
