Optical drives on a SAS3 HBA(Broadcom 3008)

February 25, 2018 at 20:55:25
Specs: Windows 8.1, Intel Xeon E5 2695v3/64 GB
My motherboard has an onbaord SAS 3 RAID controller but it is unable to detect any optical drives. Removable media support is turned on. These optical drives worked just fine on an older SAS 2008 controller but they do not work on the SAS 3008 controller. The optical drives are completely unresponsive during and after the initialization processor in the SAS 3 BIOS. Prior to the intialization process the optical drives would be able to open when the button was pressed. These optical drives need to be on the onboard SAS controller as using the SATA ports is not an option.

Go back to using the SAS 2008 old model.
