Opinion for a new laptop for my sister

December 10, 2010 at 21:55:07
Specs: Windows 7
Hi everyone,
I build my own systems but need opinions for a laptop for my sister who lives in another state. She's ready to upgrade and plans on buying a new laptop.
Her current PC is 11 years old. What I want her to get is something top of the line because she won't be upgrading again for another 10/11 years.
She's not a gamer, just needs MS Office and email. But i want her to have lots of speed cause she only has DSL and not cable like i have.
And also because she won't be upgrading again anytime soon.
Any and all recommendations would be appreciated.
thanks
danny

Top of the line? She's willing to spend over $1000? If all she needs it for is MS Office & e-mail, she sure doesn't need "top of the line". She'd be better off buying a new $300 laptop every 3-4 yrs. Also, her DSL speed isn't going to be any faster with a Core i7 than with a Celeron.

When i say "top of the line" i guess what i'm really trying to say is that i want her to have a very good system speed wise, since i know she won't upgrade again for years.

Although since you mentioned it, yea it would be better if she spent less and just upgraded in a few years, i'll have to see what she thinks about that idea. It would be the better way to go.
thanks, that was very helpful.
