Solved only one pen drive can be used on USB 2.0 4 port HUB HUB

Specs: Windows 10
I bought a 4 port USB 2.0 HUB. I found that when single pen drive is connected on it , it is recognized by my Desktop but if second pen drive is connected on it, none of them is recognized by computer. The USB HUB has no external power source & it draws power only from USB Port on computer. Is this normal ?

If the USB hub is not externally powered you can only use devices that do not need power from the USB port.

PC USB port is limited to 0.5 Amps and designed to supply one device with regulated power, in this case the USB-HUB circuitry itself. It is a surprise the one PEN drive connected works.

If you want more USB ports either get an extension kit to connect the free USB ports (via the MB headers)

Or get a external powered USB hub.

Thanks. It explains why not more than 1 Pen Drive connected on HUB works. It the power available with the HUB which restricts the operation of more than one Pen Drive on HUB.

You can buy a mains-powered hub which is supplied with a mains adapter, that should allow you to use several USB devices at the same time.

Be sure to buy a well-made one as the cheaper ones won't last long so you'll only end up having to buy another.
