Have you installed the wifi drivers?

Definitely sounds like a driver is missing. What is the make and model on the PC?

Oddly enough, recent drivers have been updated and or installed, the make and model of the laptop is" Acer aspire 3000 " have to thank ebay for having the cheaper usb plug-in wifi for now, however it is truly odd how the onboard wifi service is completley destroyed or so it seems.

there is a button on the front of the laptop next to the bluetooth button, these both have orange color neons behind them; they turn on to let the user know that it's connected to the internet; both will not start up, suggestions ? cures?
