Hi i put this under a different catagory before but thought it might be my software that is the problem, i just dont know.
When i scan a magazine it becomes jelly around the words and the photos are weird jellied on some parts.
what makes it that way? the book scans arent too bad.
Is it the paper used in the mags that make the jelly, or is it my scanner or OmniPage Pro 17?
i scan on a flat bed using Epson at 300 color. i've tried other settings and 300 is the best.

It sounds like you are scanning it as a picture with really low quality instead of using OCR (optical character recognition) if you are saving it as a low quality jpeg, you will get the compression artifacting you are describing. Have a look at your scanning software to see if it does OCR. You will get much better results for text documents. If you want to keep it as a picture format, you will need to up the photo quality.
