nvidia geforce 675m not displaying under dxdiag

Specs: Windows 7
so i bought a laptop from newegg and it says the graphics card is an nvidia geforce gtx 675m (its a laptop)

no, when i run dxdiag, under graphics it says it's "intel hd graphics 4000"

someone told me that my motherboard has a built in graphics card. so why wont it use the gtx 675m over this intel generic thing? i went to nvidias site and installed the drivers for it and that is all good. so i just dont understand why dxdiag says its an intel hd graphics 4000 not the nvidia geforce 675m.

even when i am running a game like diablo 3 on high settings and tab out and run dxdiag, same thing. any thoghts?

Your laptop has "dual" graphics adapters (Intel 4000 HD and nVidia GeForce 675m) and automatically switches from one to the other depending on which is most appropriate for what you are running at any particular time.

However, you have probably installed the wrong driver for the GeForce 675m because, with laptops you are supposed to get drivers only from the laptop manufacturer's website, not from the component manufacturer's website.

This is because laptops have custom hardware inside them, and only the laptop manufacturer has the proper custom drivers for it. You cannot get those custom drivers anywhere else.
