nothing showing on my monitor

October 13, 2010 at 18:44:37
Specs: Windows XP
I was switching out monitors on my desk top and cahnged the refresh rate. I rebooted my computer and all I got was the HP screen. I went into the cmos settings and changed the video card setting. Now all I get is a black screen. I can hear the computer booting up. I've tried pushing F8 to start the computer in the safe mode and continue to get a black screen. The monitor continues to jump back and forth between digital and analog and then goes to sleep. What can I do to be able to see the display on the screen so I can reset things back to their original settings?

Don't know who this Hugo1 character is but his answers are meaningless and not helpful.

You need to reset your CMOS to defaults and this can be achieved in one of two ways. Disconnect power. Open the case. Method 1 Set your CMOS reset jumper in the RESET position and press the start button. Return the jumper to the RUN position then re-connect power. OR Method 2. Remove the CMOS battery for 1 minute. Replace the battery and then re-start.

In either case you will need to go into BIOS and check / adjust your settings.
