Hewlett-packard / Pavillion a000?

Specs: Windows XP, 512 (low, I know)
Hey all again, now I have a P4G-LA mobo out of an HP that won't show video. I do not have any addon cards to try with it - nary a one. :( normally I have all I need but not this time around.

So anyway, I am not getting ANYTHING out of the onboard vga. also, no sound comes out of the little "buzzer" as they call it, something I would call a piezo-electric speaker. So I also don't have any beep codes to go by for figuring out what's wrong.

Ram is known good and one little caveat here, that I've read shouldn't matter is I am powering this wiith a Hipro HP-D3057F3R 300w psu, which is 24-pin going on a 20-pin mobo connector.

Thanks for any feedback to get going on this one!

Can't say for sure but some hp's are not standard. See that the color's of the wires on the 20 match standard colors. I think one is a 3.3 vdc instead of 5vdc or something like that

Anyway be sure you reset/clear bios and try again. Dunno what it might have been set to.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

If you disconnect everything (including the RAM) from the motherboard (leave the CPU), you 'should' get some error beeps. If you don't, then either the power supply or motherboard has a problem.

Thanks Aegis. Yeah, one would think that what has always worked on any other mb would work on this one, but I just don't get it. So I still only have a 24-pin psu for this board, but that may change tonight when my cousin gets home, hopefully with a 20-pin psu. I don't think he wants to put much if any money into this board, but I'll see tonight what the deal is.

I followed hp's instructions of the usual cmos clearing jumper, not that I really needed to reference something so obvious, but just to make sure I checked it anyway.
