no signal on monitor

Dell / DIMENSION 4600

Specs: Windows XP
I turned on my monitor and tower the other day and the light on the monitor was green and then it made a click noise and the light changed to orange and the screen never turned on. So I thought maybe the monitor was fryed, so I went out and purchased a new monitor. I hooked it up and it did the same thing, but said no signal for 2 seconds before turning off when the light changed to orange. What's wrong??!!

Your PC's power supply, motherboard, CPU, Memory and video adapter all have to be working to get a display on the monitor.

An orange (or flashing green) light on the monitor indicates that there is no video signal coming from the PC itself. In other words, it's not the monitor, but the PC that has a problem. Something died in your PC base (video card, motherboard, power supply?). BTW, it's a good idea to do some basic troubleshooting before you go out and buy new components ... you will want to pinpoint the problem first.
