no problems, just a question about a webcam.

Hey fellow techies! As I am such a doggone cheapskate when it comes to tech stuff, I just rebuilt an old Inspiron 6400 for my Mom but am considering getting her a webcam to go with it. Folks, I picked this machine up for $128 delivered, ordered two 2gig sticks for it to max it for her, even though she only uses it for dumping photos from her camera, and for email and web browsing, I figured what the heck. it was all so cheap (again, like me), but want to maybe throw this into the mix as well:

Looking for opinions here as to whether or not this little thing is even worth the $10bill. I'd sure never pay much more than that as it will probably be one of those things that sits unused for a very long time between occasional but very rare uses. What do you think?

Any input is welcomed, and likely acted upon as this is all a surprise for her when she comes here in a week. :)

Web-cams are fairly simple devices and as this one also has a Mic built in I don't think you are going to go far wrong for $10.

Teaching you Mother how to use it may be the difficult part but with an IM application like Skype it shouldn't be too difficult.

Agreed Stuart, thanks for confirming my notion. I have a pretty decent one from Creative that's a few years old and like everything tech it was pretty costly at the time.

Anyway, thanks again.
Chuck :)
