Don't flash your BIOS The old xp install on the hard drives are probably not compatible. Boot with a xp cd and.do a repair install.

If the computer works fine BEFORE Windows attempts to load, there's nothing wrong with the bios !

"Boot with a xp cd and.do a repair install"

When you have installed XP on a hard drive when it was connected to one mboard, then remove that drive and connect it to a different mboard and try to boot the same XP installation from the drive, if the hardware on the different mboard, primarily the main chipset, is more than a little different from that on the original mboard, XP WILL NOT load all the way - that's NORMAL !
