No Light on lcd compaq cq40

Specs: Windows 7 ultimate, 3gb
I switched on my laptop yestrday night its display is vey very dull not black and the laptop is running i hear the sound and keyboard lights and i can see it but it iss veryy dull i adjust brightness but nothing happens,i opened my battry and touch and hold the power key for 30seconds nothing happebed but when i connected to external monitors it works just fine

Check the connections each end of the cable which connects from the motherboard to the screen. Sometimes the cables fail where they hinge - move the screen slowly down towards closed and watch the screen to see if there are any changes. If there are then it's probably the cable.

Screen fault is also possible.

You r correct buddy wgen i opened the laptop its cable is not connected to screen and in hinge area the cable is also very damaged when i connct the cable sliglightly touch it the screen is flickering and and lcd is working when i stop this it it very dull plzz give me suggestion its damage to lcd screen or cable

From what you say it sounds like the cable. Google should find you a replacement (use your make and model number). This should give you a good idea how to go about it, although it is actually about screen replacement on a CQ60:

Use Google (or whatever search engine you use) to find one and get the local price.
I don't think you really need us to do that for you.

However, it sounds more like the cable is faulty than the screen to me.
