Specs: Windows XP
installed a ddrpc3200 but it does not appear to work this installed on a packard bell imedia1307 with windows xp the ddrpc3200 is new and t fitted correctly but it is not being recognised should i be doing something else

are you shure thats the kind of memory it takes? go to crucial .com and run there memory scanner on your computer with old memory if it still works and it will tell you the right kind of memory it will accept

it was scanned by crucil.com and it was them that said it neede a ddrpc3200 or if not available a ddrpc2700 would suffice as i stated followed fitting instructions but it is not being recognised as fitted do i have to somehow get computer to recognise it

PC3200 / DDR400 all are not equal, CAS, Timings and Density can be different, all are not equal, did you purchase from Crucial ?

You didn't say anything about the size of the RAM stick. It appears your system has 2 RAM slots, max of 1GB per slot, total max of 2GB.
