Solved no display a bad video card or monitor

August 8, 2013 at 21:20:58
Specs: Windows7, dual 2g/3g ram
1st symptom was diagonal lines at top of monitor and few days later the entire monitor was covered with vertical thin colored lines, now there is nothing, Tried to bring a menu up by pushing a button on front of monitor but nothing. Are there any tests I can do to verify if either the vcard or monitor are at fault. Thanks, James

The on screen display (OSD) menu of the monitor works even without a graphics card, just plug the monitor into an outlet and you should be able to get something. Most monitors display for example what input connector they are switched to in the upper left, or "no signal" or something similar somewhere on the screen if no input is connected at all. If your monitor does not display anything like that, it's a fair bet it is not working.

Was going to hook up the monitor to the MoBrd but it has a 9pin male & the monitor has the usual 15pin or the s-video plug and I can't find an adaptor to hook them up together. Oh well, a new vcard is on the horizon I guess. Thanks thp
